Where possible Goori Original Ltd employ, appropriately qualified staff of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background. Goori House proactively supports and provides training for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff. Goori Original Ltd has developed workplace policy and procedure manuals, job descriptions for both staff members and executive board members and has developed an induction and staff-in-training procedure. Volunteer staff, are required to undertake the Volunteer training programme offered at the training facility in Goori House. An important component of staff development is inter-facility cross training and peer supervision with other health facilities and drug and alcohol rehabilitation centres. This ensures that our staff, maintain excellent grounding in a variety of approaches in dealing with the substance abuse issues, while contributing to the professional development of related services. These professional links and networks have allowed Goori House to develop collaborative relationships which support the appropriate use of specialist services for Goori clients. The Goori House Addiction Treatment Centre has been very successful in its short history. Despite the Service being under resourced from its inception, the Goori House Treatment Programme and the Galangoor Therapy Programme are in such great demand that the Board decided that an expansion of the Service was required to address this exigency. Goori House now offers a Halfway house programme for clients who successfully complete the Goori House programme. If you would like to be considered for a volunteer position or as Case Manager you can forward your resume via email to the address below.
